How We Can Help You
Founded by Dr Laura Bennett, Oasis Psychology, in Wimborne, Dorset, is a specialist service to support children and young people with attachment needs and developmental trauma and those caring for them.
Oasis Psychology works with children in care, those who have been adopted or are cared for under a Special Guardianship Order and children living in their own families. Enquiries are welcome from professionals and families alike.
I understand that children who have experienced trauma may not have received the start in life that they deserve and that this will have affected their ability to form relationships with others. I work to help children work through their trauma whilst building secure connections and relationships with the people caring for them.
I believe that supporting children with attachment needs and developmental trauma requires a systemic approach and therefore, as well as offering direct therapy, I provide a range of services, including assessment, consultation and training, to support carers and professionals to provide the best therapeutic care that they can.

OUR SERVICES
Therapy
Oasis Psychology offers evidence based individual and relationship based (dyadic) therapies to help children with complex trauma and attachment needs.
Assessment
At Oasis Psychology I offer a range of therapeutic assessments designed to provide understanding of children’s therapeutic needs and how best to meet these.
Parenting Support
Oasis Psychology offers therapeutic parenting support to any parent or carers wishing to discover new ways to support their children.
Consultation
I offer consultation to a range of professionals and carers. Consultation can be offered to groups or individuals on a regular or individual basis.
Supervision
Supervision can be provided to any professional working with children with attachment needs or developmental trauma.
Training
I am able to offer a range of training programmes focusing on attachment and trauma. Please contact me to discuss your individual requirements.

Therapeutic Parenting

As a child care social worker, I referred a single carer of a child with complex developmental trauma to Dr Laura Bennett for assessment and support.
Dr Laura Bennett gained an understanding of the child’s history and current needs from her family and the professionals who were supporting her.
Parenting sessions using a dyadic approach and screening for ASD were completed by Dr Bennett through both face-to-face and online sessions, with a final report produced.
I can highly recommend Dr Laura Bennett for her professional, yet gentle and calm approach.

Laura worked with me to deliver advice to an education provision regarding a young person to help secure their school placement. She has worked with foster carers to make sure they have a better understanding of the young people they look after, to help make positive changes for the young person regarding soiling/ attachment and relationships.
